Description

This is a content pack for the Subtitles File Reader (SFR) plugin that provides an example VR project. Use this to accelerate the development of your PCVR or mobile VR game or experience using spatial audio and subtitles.

Subtitles float within your view on a spring (not locked to a lower third position the way they would with a flatscreen experience).

If the dialogue is spatialised, an arrow appears with the subtitles to show the direction of the speaker.

Due to the current VR development landscape we cannot ship this functionality within our core plugin without breaking the experience for developers only needing it for flatscreen experiences.

Sample maps

To play the sample map enable Show Plugin Content in the Content Browser and navigate to /All/Plugins/VRSubtitlesSFRExample/Maps/Explainer_VR

Known issues

Floating subtitles are hard to see in screencasts if speaker is offscreen

Using UE5.3 and Meta Quest, OpenXR plugin must be manually disabled for MetaXR plugin to operate
